TEJAS DINNER at BOODLE’S

3rd Edition

About Boodle’s

Founded in 1762 by William Petty, Earl of Shelburne—future Marquess of Lansdowne and UK Prime Minister—Boodle’s, originally conceived as a meeting place for statesman and thinkers, is among the oldest and most distinguished gentlemen’s clubs in London. The Club took its name from its head waiter, Edward Boodle, who also began to manage it shortly after it was opened.

Since 1782, Boodle’s has resided at 28 St James’s Street, a Georgian townhouse designed by John Crunden. Its membership has included Adam Smith, Sir Winston Churchill, the Duke of Wellington, and James Bond creator Ian Fleming, among other icons of British history.

As these two storied traditions meet again, you’re invited to experience the timeless hospitality of Boodle’s: where class, character, and camaraderie continue shaping the present.

Message from our host

The friendships I made in the Tejas Club in the early 1970’s are of great value to me - it was and continues to be a wonderful club. Over the years I have always enjoyed meeting alumni and actives in London, many of whom have had dinner with me at Boodle’s (providing they had a suit and tie!), where I have been a member for nearly 35 years. Also, some of you have visited Sarah and I at our house and farm in Hampshire, about 50 miles west of London.

I had the lightbulb idea of holding a major dinner at Boodle’s at the Tejas 90th celebrations in 2015, and so we had the first Tejas dinner at Boodle’s in July 2016 with some 85 attending, including around 8 actives; it was a great success. Many of you asked for another one, so in 2022 we had a repeat with around 134, including about 12 actives, as a run up to the 2025 Centennial.

So, July 2026 will continue to be a celebration of friendship in the wonderful setting of Boodle’s, the second oldest club in the world. It should be a fun evening and there will be entertainment as usual, with perhaps a few twists!

I very much look forward to seeing you there, and don’t forget it’s tuxedo, and the ladies will, as with the previous dinners, undoubtedly add to the glamour with their dresses.

Yours in Tejas,

Angus Sladen
