Since arriving on the 40 Acres in 1933, Margaret C. Berry has been a mentor and friend to the Tejas Club. Dr. Berry taught us about liberty, about love, and about service to the great state of Texas and its University that brought us all together.

A scholar, leader, and friend, the Club was privileged to name her Honorary Brave and will continue to cherish our friendship with her as an open heart, a keen mind, and an untamed spirit.

Our Club has known more time with Dr. Berry as a friend than it has without her, and her impact on everything we do is profound. She gave the toast of honor at the inaugural Texas Independence Day Breakfast in 1981 and brought her reverence and wit to the pinnacle of the event for 36 more iterations. The 2017 edition was just as strong in its conviction and well-wishes as the first. The Braves of Tejas pray we can all strive towards the ideals Dr. Berry saw in this student body, University, and State.

In Brave Margaret C. Berry's honor, May the Fires of Friendship Forever Burn.
